About the project
Tourism and travelling are becoming more and more important in human life. In the same time the tourist sector represents a considerable part of the economy in all European countries. The different businesses, which are connected with tourism, are important means for qualification and re-qualification of many people by giving them chances for seasonal or full-time employment
A large part of the European population speaks different Slavic languages. After the fall of the Eastern block the Russian language, which was common means of communication, was replaced by the English language. But it is true that the Slavic languages are much more similar to each other than the rest of the European languages. For this reason it would be much more efficient if this is used for developing linguistic competencies for the purposes of the tourist sector. Our project is based on four Slavic languages: Czech, Slovak, Slovenian and Bulgarian.
We offer Three-level lexically oriented model for teaching, learning, and evaluation of oral Slavic languages competences in respect with the needs of Tourism.
The motto of our project is Language as a means, language as an aim. Means – because every type of foreign language competence increases the labour market competition in the European Union. Aim – because the acquaintance with “the other” through his/her language educates us in the spirit of tolerance and creates a common ethical climate that is necessary for the cooperation of the European nations.
